Step into a space where design meets empowerment. House of Honey, a collective of renowned women designers celebrated for their bespoke and stylish interiors, partnered with Artsake to create a feminine fashion statement. ‘HerSTORY’ stands as an artwork honoring women’s journeys and triumphs, encapsulating the essence of feminine strength and their fearless resilience across eras.
A journey without a destination
Serving as a visual homage to female contributions in the art and design realms, ‘HerSTORY’ explores beauty through a lens of boldness and authenticity. From its poetic origins to its stylish portrayal, this artwork is a centrepiece that sparks conversation and inspires change through its intricate layers of jewelry and symbolism.
Q: What was the creative process with Artsake like?
Working with Artsake was kismet. We shared our desire to celebrate and support female identified creators in art and design spaces and the art piece almost materialized from our discussions. I feel a strong affinity for female portraiture. I love how it explores and celebrates the meaning of beauty and femininity in society.
Q: What are some of the most important things to consider when choosing art for a project?
Choose what you are drawn to. Art has an incredible power and ability to imbue a space with playful, theatrical whimsy. As designers, House of Honey is drawn to art that evokes multiple stories and makes us look at the world differently.
Q: What’s the biggest roadblock most people face when searching for art? How do you see Artsake as a solution?
The biggest roadblocks we’ve recognized in the search for art are access and misunderstanding. Art is extremely personal, and experiencing a piece is like sharing an intimate moment with an artist that is likely to evolve over time. Contrary to popular belief, art does not need to be attached to a pedigree or movement to be relevant and powerful. We are truly inspired by what Clio and Gabriel have created. In an incredibly short span of time, they’ve created a platform of access to unique, potent, tasteful, high quality, and accessible art.
Q: What is your favorite tip for styling a space with art? And does it always have to be a perfect match?
Trust your instinct and buy what you are drawn to regardless of the pedigree. It is less necessary that it ‘match’ and more important that you share a connection with it.
Q: What does art do that furnishings can’t?
Art has the power to transform and define a space, to inspire the landscape of the imagination. Furnishings can be a version of functional art, but their main purpose is to be functional, a requirement that art is excused of.
